ART THAT CARRIES YOUR STORY + THE LICENSE TO SHARE IT.

The work you put into the world deserves to look like it came from somewhere real, not a stock library, not a template, not someone else's vision.

Custom artwork brings a depth and personality to your brand that generic visuals simply cannot. When a piece is created with your brand at the center, it becomes more than decoration; it becomes part of how your story is told.

Illustration designed for your brand feels cohesive and true to you. It supports your visual identity, adds character, and creates a consistent presence that lives across your website, packaging, apparel, and merchandise; artwork that holds meaning long after the trends have moved on.

ARTWORK LICENSING

Original artwork, made to live in the world.

Albatross Art House creates original illustrations, surface patterns, and apparel graphics available for licensed use by brands, publishers, and makers who value intentional design over generic visuals.

Licensing gives you access to professional, one-of-a-kind artwork with clear parameters, so both sides know exactly what they're agreeing to. No guesswork. No grey areas. Just great art, used well.

  • Licensing can sound more complicated than it needs to be. At its core it's simple: you pay for the right to use a piece of artwork in a defined way, for a defined time, in a defined place. I keep ownership. You get the art.

Below are the five ways that can look from the lightest-touch option to a full transfer of rights. Not sure which fits? That's what the inquiry conversation is for.

    Licenses are tailored based on:

    • Intended use (product, brand, editorial, etc.)

    • Production volume or reach

    • Duration of use

    • Territory (if applicable)

This approach ensures fairness, clarity and sustainability for both the artist and the brand.

  • Artwork may be licensed for the following uses:

    Product-Based Use
For physical products such as apparel, home goods, packaging, or stationery.

    Brand & Marketing Use
For websites, social media, marketing materials, and supporting brand visuals.

    Editorial & Publishing Use
For books, publications, curriculum, or nonprofit materials.

    Campaign & Promotional Use
For events, fundraisers, or limited-run campaigns.

Not all artwork is available for every category. Availability will be confirmed during the inquiry process.

  • Non-Exclusive License

A non-exclusive license allows you to use the selected artwork within an agreed scope, while the artwork may also be licensed to other clients.

    What this includes:

    • Approved use within defined categories (ex: apparel, marketing, print)

    • Defined production limits or duration

    • Non-exclusive access to the artwork

    What this means for you:

    • Lower cost

    • Faster access

    • Ideal for small brands, first runs, or limited projects

    What this means for Albatross:

    • The artwork may continue to be licensed elsewhere

    • Ownership remains with the studio

    Extended Use License

(For larger scale or longer-term projects)

An extended use license builds on a non-exclusive license by expanding the scope of use.

    This may include:

    • Higher production quantities

    • Longer license duration

    • Broader geographic territory

    • Expanded platforms or channels

Extended use does not provide exclusivity — it simply allows you to use the artwork more broadly.

This option is ideal for growing brands or projects with increased reach.

    Category-Exclusive License

    (Exclusive within a defined category)

A category-exclusive license grants exclusive use of the artwork within a specific product or usage category.

    Examples:

    • Exclusive use for apparel

    • Exclusive use for stationery

    • Exclusive use for home goods

    What this includes:

    • No other brand will use the artwork within the approved category

    • Albatross may license the artwork for other categories

    • Defined term and territory

This option offers distinction without the cost of full exclusivity.

    Fully Exclusive License

An exclusive license grants one client the sole right to use the artwork across all categories for the duration of the license.

    What this includes:

    • Exclusive access to the artwork

    • No further licensing to other clients

    • Clearly defined scope, term, and territory

Exclusive licenses are limited and priced accordingly.

    Full Buyout (Limited Availability)

    Complete transfer of rights

A full buyout transfers ownership of the artwork to the client.

    What this includes:

    • Exclusive, perpetual use

    • Transfer of copyright

    • No future use or licensing by Albatross Art House

This option is offered selectively and at a premium.

    A Note on Custom Artwork

Custom artwork includes the creation of original work and a license to use it. Exclusivity is not automatic and must be requested separately.

Custom artwork may be licensed under any of the license levels above unless otherwise agreed in writing.

    • All artwork remains the intellectual property of Albatross Art House, LLC unless otherwise stated in writing.

    • Artwork may not be resold, redistributed, or claimed as original work.

    • Modifications beyond resizing or approved color adjustments require written permission.

    • Artwork used within Albatross wholesale collections is not available for product-based licensing unless explicitly noted.

"LICENSING MIGHT BE EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED IF:

• You want original, hand-crafted artwork, not something pulled from a stock library

• You need a polished design ready to use without a long custom timeline

• You're launching a product line, campaign, or brand refresh that needs to stand out

• You believe what your brand looks like should reflect what your brand actually stands for

• You value the creative process and want to work with an artist who takes that seriously"

LICENSING MAY BE EXACTLY WHAT YOU NEED IF:

READY TO PUT ORIGINAL ART TO WORK FOR YOUR BRAND?

Every licensing conversation starts simply — with what you're building and what you need. There are no packages to pick from and no pressure to decide quickly. Just an honest conversation about whether this is the right fit, and what it would look like if it is.

I only take on licensing partnerships I genuinely believe in. If that resonates with you, I'd love to hear what you're working on.
